Research

Research at MFOL often involves developing innovative technological tools to reveal new insights into the physical world and its abstract models. The Laboratory seeks, on one hand, to develop basic understanding and intellectual means to model complex phenomena and, on the other hand, to create a foundation for building new high-performance technologies which can be used to further research progress.

MFOL currently pursues seven major research themes.

  1. Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technologies
  2. Communication – Radar Signal Processing Systems
  3. Optical Systems
  4. Computational Electromagnetics
  5. Biomedical Engineering
  6. Education Technology
  7. In Silico Oncology/Medicine and Multiscale Biomodeling

The Microwave and Fiber Optics Laboratory accommodates a number the following research groups that include a number of researchers, graduate student researchers and often involves undergraduate researchers too.

  1. i-sense Group
  2. In Silico Oncology Group
  3. Biomedical Informatics Group, BIO-MIG
  4. RF, microwaves/mmwaves wireless systems
  5. Biomedical Engineering
