Welcome to Microwave and Fiber Optics Laboratory!

The Microwave and Fiber Optics Laboratory (MFOL) has been established in 1985 and has been active in a large number of European projects as well as in national projects in related areas of microwave, fibre optics and millimetre wave systems and technologies as well as applications relevant to telecommunications, sensor systems, biomedical engineering and wireless technologies.

MFOL in parallel with its research and Development Activities supports an extensive Education Programme of Coursework in Engineering Diploma Studies, Master and Ph.D. Thesis.

Activities in the Microwave and Fiber Optics Laboratory at the National Technical University of Athens encompass research in related areas of microwave, fibre optics and millimetre wave systems and technologies.	The MFOL is dedicated to the teaching process and the development of constructively and critically thinking engineers. Some of the courses conducted are Telecommunication Electronics, Microwaves etc.	Projects in Microwave and Fiber Optics Laboratory involve applications relevant to tele- communications, sensor systems, biomedical engineering and wireless technologies. Projects are both basic and applied.
Publications describe both the laboratory and its research and development activities. Numerous undergraduate students conduct their diploma thesis in Microwave and Fiber Optics Laboratory every year, as well as some graduate students that begin their Ph.D. research. The staff includes 8 faculty members, numerous researchers, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, several graduate and undergraduate students and general staff.
